Songpyeon – a crescent moon rice cake

Kingdom A&S was a great event. It was my second A&S competition (first being WW) and my first kingdom level A&S entry. I think it went very well for my first time at the intermediate level. 37 out of 40! I have already started thinking about future entries. Thank you to her majesty Jehanette and Sorcha for explaining A& S documentation, showing me examples, and making it less scary. Thank you to my barony for making me feel so supported and willing(?) to be subjected to taste testing. Next up is feastocrating Schutzenfest with Lewke! We will be doing a full Korean meal plan!! (Spoiler, due to COVID-19 the event was cancelled). Attached is my songpyeon research paper and recipe!

Mul-Naengmyeon – my first A&S!

During Warriors and Warlords 2019, I participated in my first A&S competition. This A&S competition was for my barony, the Barony of Nordskogen. I chose to make mul-naengmyeon, a cold noodle dish. This is a dish that I have been making for WW for several years now. It has been fondly dubbed the “magic soup” because the cold broth and acidity from the vinegar is so refreshing on a hot day. While for prior years I had been making a more modern version, I decided to recreate a more period version for A&S. To make the dish, two other recipes are also required as components for the broth. If you would like to try it, download the recipe in the link!
